Introduction
The garden at Maisons Castle, with its fountain, sculptures, flowers, vegetable patch and orchard, was once an attraction that engaged all five senses of visitors.
Today, pupils explore the redesigned garden on a sensory walk punctuated by games that help them learn to recognise the natural world around them.
Key concepts:
- Exploring the five senses in real-life situations across the garden’s different areas
- Identify and name the natural features encountered
- Distinguish between different textures, smells and sounds
- Expressing their feelings and discoveries verbally, whilst expanding their vocabulary relating to living things and sensations
